?It is amazing - they are playing at such a high level when their irons and woods are at least 3 years old.  Their success really pays testament to the character and tenacity that Eric & Marsha have instilled in them; however I can?t ignore the fact that these girls need help to be successful this season.?  Dashawnda Brown (a friend of the Jackson family)

Chicago’s beloved “Birdie Sisters” Myah & Erica Jackson ranked 1st and 2nd respectively in the 2011 Illinois State Elementary Golf Championship tournament are gearing up for another exciting season of golf!

Last summer “Team Jackson” comprised of Coach/father: Eric Jackson, mom: Marsha Ross-Jackson, brother: John Jackson and The Birdie Sisters logged over 2000 miles crisscrossing the country showcasing their exemplanary talent and winning golf tournaments.  “We’re already practicing and working hard to ensure that we do our best on the fairways this season and hopefully top the success we had last year.” said Coach & father Eric Jackson.

The 2012 season starts on May 19th at the Dupage County Junior Golf Classic at Oak Meadow’s Golf Club in Addison, Illinois. Although the girls are in need of items such as clubs, irons, assistance with entry fees, range finders, travel expenses, and athletic wear, what they do have is the support of their community!  Again this year the girls’ schedules will be posted on Facebook at Erica-Myah Jackson.

The success that the girls’ father references includes winning some of the “major tournaments” on the junior golf circuit.  Last year alone the Birdie Sisters:

·         Were named to the 2011 Tiger Woods National Junior Golf Team (3rd time for Erica and 4th time for Myah)

·         Myah took 2nd place in the Doral Publix International Golf Championship in December 2011 and Erica finished in the top 20 of her division

·         Myah was named the 2011 player of the year for the Illinois Junior Golf Association’s Girls 10-11 year-old division

·         Both Erica and Myah took 3rd place in their respective divisions in the 2012 Pepsi Little People’s Junior Golf Championships in Quincy, IL – an International tournament. (Erica took 2nd place in 2010)

·         Myah and Erica were the 1st and 2nd place winners of the Chicago Park District’s Junior Amateur Golf Championship

·         Myah finished 18th in girls 11-12 year old division of the Callaway Junior World Tournament held in San Diego, CA.  There were approximately 90 girls in her division from all around the world.

·         Both Erica and Myah were featured in several live and print interviews during 2011:  Fox News Chicago, NBC News Chicago, Chicago Sports Edition, “Everyone Has a Story” on CAN TV, the Chicago Bulletin, and the national publication, JET Magazine (Dec. 12/19 2011 edition).  They are currently on the April 1, 2012 cover of Black Sports Magazine.
